FERGUS BYRNE (Ireland)

Byrne is an interdisciplinary artist working in performance, drawing and writing. He studied Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, before developing an interest in performance and dance. He subsequently attained an MA in Theatre and Contemporary Practice at Hull University. Byrne is a member of the Visual Arts Centre, Dublin.

“I am most concerned at present with performance having a meaningful relation to its location and audience, acknowledgement of the live nature of performance, and being open to change occurring within performance, despite structures set in the creation of work.  The presence of the statue of Galileo in the hall of the Lanyon building has had a significant impact on the performance I will do.”
